The new 2017 Lexus RX is designed for comfort and a simplified life. Packed with the latest technologies and comfort features, the RX is a great choice for any family. Enjoy heated and ventilated front seats, a touch-free power open and close rear door and a new look, to name a few. With integrated voice commands, premium surround sound and Lexus Enform, you may never want to get out of your new Lexus. I drove the RX 350 around for a weekend and fell in love with it.
2017 Lexus RX Performance
You have 3 driving mode choices, Eco, Normal and Sport. Sport mode was by far my favorite. I was surprised at how big the difference was, but once I switched to sport mode, I felt as though the 3.5-Liter V6 engine truly came to life with all 295 horsepower pushing it forward. It no longer felt like I was driving a large vehicle, it handled easier and breezed up to interstate cruising speeds. For anyone who is more environmentally conscious, Eco mode is also a great choice. You’ll save gas money while driving around the city. That’s always a plus.
2017 Lexus RX Technology
This SUV is packed to the brim with all sorts of technology. From the safety features, which I’ll get into later, to display screen, intuitive controls, an automatic parking brake and so much more. The display screen is huge. It’s large enough that you can have two pieces of information showing at the same time. It’s split into about 2/3 and 1/3. The 2/3 of the screen closest to the driver shows whatever information you want to display; climate, radio, Bluetooth, Lexus Apps, Navigation – you name it, you can probably display it. The other 1/3 of the screen has a few options to choose from and is a great way to keep constantly updated. I got used to constantly having a map up to show exactly where I was and what streets were closest to me on the far side and music or climate on the side closer to me.
2017 Lexus RX Interior
My personal favorite piece of tech the RX 350 includes is the heated and cooled seats. Leather seats are great, except for when it’s really cold outside or really hot outside. Plus, with the weather constantly changing between hot and cold during the fall months, it was really nice to have both options. Heated seats in the mornings and evenings when there is a crispness in the air. Cooled seats for during the day when it’s gotten toasty outside. It’s the perfect combination of options and I loved them.
2017 Lexus RX Safety
The Lexus Safety System + comes standard in the 2017 model. These safety features were previously options on the 2016. Now, you’ll get a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, All-speed dynamic radar cruise control, intelligent high-beam headlamps, lane departure alert with steering assist and lane keep alert. Plus, you get the backup camera and 10 airbags throughout the cabin. Enjoy Bi-LED headlamps, LED foglamps and daytime running lights. An electronic parking brake and vehicle stability control as well. And Lexus Enform safety Connect complementary for the first year of ownership. All of that comes standard. That’s a lot of safety features automatically included.
I loved having these safety features. The Lexus Safety System+ took the uncertainty out of driving. I think the lane keep assist and the lane departure alert systems would be fantastic for a long drive. When the RX senses you’re drifting from your lane, the steering wheel vibrates a few times. If you’re switching lanes and don’t turn your turn signal on, the car will alert you as though you’re drifting. It’s a very nice system to have and keeps you alert to what’s going on around you.
