Driving a 2017 Subaru Legacy was almost intimidating for me because I’ve never heard a bad thing about the brand. Subaru loves the outdoors, favors four-legged friends and produces reliable cars that are at their best in snowy conditions. When I got behind the wheel of the 2017 Legacy 3.6R I felt the excitement wash over me, but also hoped that it wasn’t too much car for me; because that bad boy was loaded. Technology, safety features and I can’t forget the lumbar support in the driver’s seat. After pretending it was mine for four days, the following were my main take-a-ways.
EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology is Incredible
This was my first time driving a vehicle with what are becoming the standard in safety features – optimized cruise control, lane assist, blind spot alert and pre-collision breaking. Blew my mind.
When I first got into the vehicle one of the salesmen went over all the safety features, because like I said, I had never driven a Subaru or a vehicle in general that offered so much. Essentially, the EyeSight® system is a dual set of cameras placed on either side of the rearview mirror. It’s like having not one, but two extra sets of eyes watching the road for me.
Comfort at Every Corner
The 2017 Subaru Legacy made me feel comfort in two different ways – peace of mind and also, literally, comfort. I’ll never buy a vehicle without lumbar support now
As expected, Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system comes standard. So, no matter what trim level you decide to purchase, you’ll always have all-wheel drive. Another peace of mind feature is STARLINK™. STARLINK™ is Subaru’s in-vehicle technology system. Other than multimedia, it provides safety and security features such as automatic collision notification. If an airbag deploys a STARLINK™ Customer Care Advisor is notified right away and can speak to you through the speakers in your vehicle letting you know help is on the way. Other features include enhanced roadside assistance (press a button and roadside assistance will be on its way), stolen vehicle recovery and remote services. The list is seriously endless and leaves very little to be desired because it provides everything.
As far as the literal comfort aspect of the vehicle, my vehicle had leather seats, seat warmers, plenty of space and, as I mentioned, lumbar support in the driver’s seat. As someone with a daily commute of an hour each way, this was a huge plus for me. Did I mention you can also opt to include rear heated seats? Your passengers will love you forever.
The Legacy Lives Up to the Brands Reputation
Driving the 2017 Subaru Legacy was incredible. There is no other way to describe it. It’s very refreshing when you hear a lot of hype about an auto brand and then drive one of its vehicles to find out it lives up to every single word.
